Shiv Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray addressed a gathering on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in Mumbai. Thackeray took a jab at the BJP, mentioning that although his father Bal Thackeray used to criticize Rajiv Gandhi, he was not pursued by enforcement agencies like the ED, CBI, and IT. This statement was made during an event organized by the Congress party in honor of Gandhi's birth anniversary. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge highlighted the role of party workers in successfully withdrawing an advertisement for lateral entry into the bureaucracy. Kharge emphasized the importance of opposition, stating that if the BJP had a majority, they would have implemented their agenda without resistance. Leaders from the MVA, including Thackeray and NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, attended the event. Thackeray, who received a stole from the Congress party, joked about potential news coverage. Thackeray criticized the BJP and Prime Minister Modi, noting the lack of animosity between Congress and Shiv Sena (before the split) and highlighting their unity against the BJP's power politics. Thackeray also expressed disagreement with the BJP's interpretation of Hindutva and advocated for interfaith fairness. Kharge stressed the importance of the India alliance gaining power in states to influence Rajya Sabha decisions and oppose unfair legislation. He mentioned the BJP's swift passage of controversial bills and the revised balance of power in parliament allowing the opposition to refer the Wakf amendment bill to a Joint Parliamentary Committee.
